• How to correctly use your new hedge shears: start trimming at the base of your hedge and move upwards using long, smooth, continuous sweeping strokes rather than short, choppy cuts - this helps create an even edge; keep the base of your hedge slightly wider than the top so that sunlight can still reach lower branches to prevent thinning of the hedge
• Use your hedge shears on softer, new, green growth only. For thicker stems or woodier branches, switch to a pair of secateurs or loppers as required
• Care and maintenance: after each use, wipe away sap or other plant debris with a cloth and be sure to only store your tools once the blades are completely dry
